Liang Wenfeng was exposed to intensive contact Embodied AI entrepreneurs, DeepSeek is going to be a robot?

On October 13th, according to media reports, DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng recently paid close attention to the Embodied AI field and communicated with a number of entrepreneurs in the field to discuss the direction of interaction between robots, large models and the real world. It is rumored that DeepSeek intends to enter the Embodied AI realm.

According to people familiar with the matter, Liang Wenfeng is evaluating the possibility of DeepSeek entering the Embodied AI field further, and there may be two paths, including forming a team in person or investing in related companies. "Liang Wenfeng is not very experienced in this field, so he is also studying intensively," the person said.

It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time DeepSeek has focused on the field of robotics. In August this year, DeepSeek won a strategic allotment of 933,400 shares of Yushu Science and Technology Innovation Board IPO for 141 million yuan, a lock-up period of 36 months. The two sides signed the "Strategic Cooperation Memorandum" at the same time, agreeing to carry out in-depth cooperation in the three directions of general artificial intelligence, high-performance general robots and AI models. Yushu Technology CEO Wang Xingxing confirmed this cooperation framework during the online roadshow.

According to reports, DeepSeek also plans to lead a seed round of financing for Winverse AI, a robotics company founded by former Tencent AI scientist Hu Han, with a financing scale of tens of millions of dollars, and a post-investment valuation of about 400 million US dollars. Meituan's Dragon Ball Investment and other institutions have made investment commitments. It is reported that the transaction has not yet been finalized, and details such as valuation and investor list are still subject to change.

According to public data, Hu Han previously served as the chief scientist of Tencent, responsible for the visual language model and embodied basic model team, has a doctorate from Tsinghua University, worked at Microsoft Asia Research Institute and Baidu, and is one of the co-authors of the Swin Transformer paper on visual basic models.

However, according to the understanding of Phoenix Network Technology from many people in the industry, Winverse AI is not a Embodied AI company in the strict sense, and its business is more infra-low-level, mainly related to model acceleration.

As of the press release, DeepSeek has not yet responded to the DeepSeek layout Embodied AI.
