The world's first per capita usage! Singapore is the country that loves Claude the most

October 15 news, according to the latest Economic Index report released by Anthropic, Singapore ranks first in the world with a per capita intensity of 5.53 times, ranking first among 116 countries and regions included in the statistics.

The report uses the Anthropic AI Usage Index (AUI) as a measure of a region's share of global Claude use divided by its share of the global working-age population (aged 15-64). Index 1 represents parity with the global average, with Singapore's 5.53 meaning its working-age population uses Claude more than five times as much as the global average.

It is worth mentioning that in the statistical sample of the report, there were a total of 5,499 conversations from Singapore, and the absolute number was far less than that of populous countries such as the United States and India. Singapore is better at using density.

From a specific use point of view, the proportion of Singapore users in tasks such as using Claude to make teaching materials, developing and debugging machine learning and AI systems, scientific research, and solving mathematical problems is higher than the global average. By occupation, computer and mathematics conversations accounted for 17.9% of total conversations in Singapore, and education accounted for 8.2%.

According to media reports, before the release of the March report, Israel occupied the top spot in per capita usage for a long time. On April 23 this year, Dominic Soon, senior vice president of private equity at the Singapore Government Investment Corporation (GIC), said at a closed-door event co-hosted by GIC and Anthropic that Singapore is already the largest user of Anthropic's AI model Claude on a per capita basis, marking Singapore's official anti-Israeli top.

In contrast, Israel is about 5.20 times, Luxembourg about 5.06 times, Switzerland about 4.85 times, and the United States about 4.58 times. Among them, the total use of Claude in the United States is the highest in the world, accounting for 21.6%, but it is not ranked first in terms of population-adjusted per capita.

Anthropic announced on September 16 that it would open an office in Singapore in October, its fifth location in the Asia-Pacific region, after Tokyo, Bangalore, Seoul and Sydney.
